RatingDepot
RatingDepot is a system for giving people ratings based on peer review. These ratings can be used to fairly recognize or reward all contributors to a project. The membership of the group can be open. Some ways you will be able to use RatingDepot:
- give recognition to all contributors to a voluntary project
- share advertising revenue between contributors to a community-driven website or group blog
- fund open-source software development: commit to share future profits with the people who send in patches. With RatingDepot, even senders of unsolicited patches have some assurance that they will be paid fairly.
- periodically, fairly, redistribute equity between the founders or partners of a company
- give out bonus payments based on peer reviews of performance (instead of, or in addition to, managerial reviews)
- hire contractors: instead of negotiating a set rate or amount upfront, commit to share a future revenue stream with the contractors according to peer reviews of the completed work
- democratically run a project, but give more power to the most experienced and committed participants (in this case RatingDepot is distributing votes, rather than money)
- as a "reputation currency", for example, the way that "whuffie" is used in the fictional story Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom
